If you visit Caliente and stay awhile, you will discover, as we did, the folks who live here are delightful and friendly. The food is good and you can’t beat the scenery. The old “Pedro” will put on a show, and with eleven tunnels, you can’t go wrong. Remember the two rules that my UPRR friends taught me: Respect the crews and stay off the property.
Before you come, research the history of the SP,LA&SL RR, take the time to look around, and you will discover many marks on the land left from the two disasters that occurred here.
